I’m Sydney. A wedding photographer (see my photo page here!), creative educator, retreat host, and lifelong traveler with a deep love for beautiful places and meaningful connection.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I wanted to create more than photographs.

I wanted to create experiences.

Experiences that give photographers permission to step outside of the everyday pace of running a business. Experiences that make you feel inspired again. Experiences that remind you why you picked up a camera in the first place.

And that’s where the idea for Rooted Awakening began.

A LOVE OF TRAVEL + A LOVE OF CREATING

I have always been a traveler at my core.

I’m happiest somewhere new . Travel has taught me that inspiration rarely comes from staying comfortable. It comes from being curious. From slowing down enough to notice things.  I bring that same philosophy into every retreat I create.

The destination matters. The setting matters. The details matter.

But more than anything, how you feel while you're there matters.

Somewhere between running a business and trying to keep up with everything that comes with being a photographer, it can be surprisingly easy to lose the part of yourself that simply loves to create.

I've felt that, too.

So I wanted to create something different.

Rooted Awakening isn't simply a styled shoot where you show up, photograph a pretty table, and go home with a hard drive full of portfolio images.

It's an opportunity to step away from the noise and come back to yourself.

We slow down. We reconnect. We learn. We create. We share meals and stories. We photograph beautiful things. We make new friendships. And we give ourselves permission to be inspired again.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ME

I'm deeply intentional about the retreats I create.

As a photographer, I'm constantly thinking about light, composition, movement, fashion, atmosphere, storytelling, and the little details that make an image memorable. I bring that editorial eye into every styled experience,

but I never want the images to be the only thing you take home.

I want you to leave with new ideas.

New friendships.

A renewed sense of confidence.

A gallery you're genuinely excited to add to your portfolio.

And, hopefully, a little more clarity about the kind of artist you want to be.

Every retreat is designed to feel elevated without feeling intimidating, intentional without feeling overly structured, and inspiring without becoming another place where you feel like you have to perform.

SO, WHY ROOTED AWAKENING?

Because I believe we all need a reason to pause.

A reason to leave our routines behind.

A reason to get on a plane, drive somewhere beautiful, meet people who understand the weirdness and magic of being a creative, and remember that this career can be about more than algorithms, bookings, and keeping up.

It can be about art.

It can be about community.

It can be about adventure.

It can be about creating something beautiful simply because you can.

That's what I want Rooted Awakening to be.

A place to get rooted in yourself, awakened in your creativity, and inspired to take that feeling home with you.
